We caught up with Wesley Gonzalez a couple of months ago to discuss his recently released second album Appalling Human alongside other things (read TMR Talks To...Wesley Gonzalez here now). Since then it seems that Gonzalez has kept himself busy crafting a somewhat morbid video for one of the stand out tracks on the album 'Did You Get What You Paid For?'. Playing a ghost attending his own fictional funeral, the pink ceremony space comes complete with flowers, crying mourners and a eulogy in place of lyrics. As always, it's delivered in good humour and doesn't take itself seriously in the slightest. Gonzalez divulges: “I wrote this, unsurprisingly, in a very dark moment. I tried to write a song that I would want to be played at my funeral. I thought ‘Do you all love me? Am I what you want? Did you get what you paid for?’ - was a pretty good final statement. A good mix of tragedy and comedy - I wrote the music with that in mind as well it has to be said, but it had to have personality, I can’t die boring. I wanted to go with some swag.” -Holly Mullineaux
